Notes and References

PHC moved to World Theater, Exchange & Wabasha, St. Paul. Former Shubert Theater, built 1910 as legit, made over into movie house in ’33, redecorated disastrously in ’55, operated as second-run all-day venue until shut down in January, about to be boarded-up and perhaps torn down for a burger joint, rented to PHC at low price by owner Bob Dworsky and, after his death, by wife Shirley Dworsky (referred to on show as Shirley World). 650-seater when occupied, then 960 when false ceiling was removed, opening up 2nd balcony. Purchased by Minn. Public Radio, Dec. 7, 1981 (40th anniversary of Pearl Harbor).
