A cold wind blew down from Canada. Fourteen Sons of Canute erected the spruce tree in front of the Statue of the Unknown Norwegian. They decorated it after it was erected. It is held by three guy ropes, as required by the insurance policy. The tree leaned after they placed the ladder. LW got the policy after one of the trees fell over and pinned Yaimer Inqvuist to the ground. Everyone cheered when the tree was lit. Then the lights went out. There was one bad bulb and 14 guys testing with long discussions. On Tuesday, the clouds to the north looked like mountains. You could imagine that this was California or Oregon. Imagine if our ancestors had kept on going out to Marin County. Life would be much different if you were in Marin County. Here everything is the same. Out in California, they make it up as they go along. People would put extra ingredients in the Christmas cookies. GK remembers that he was always a shepherd in the pageant. The shepherds only had one line, "Let us go unto Bethlehem and see that thing that has come to pass that the Lord has made known unto us." You are afraid that you will forget your line. The same evening that the tree was put up, two guys came out of the Sidetrack Tap and decided that the tree was crooked. One loosened a guy rope while the other checked it. When he loosened the guy rope, the tree toppled. The two guys managed to erect the tree but it was leaning.
Garrison explains while other big radio stations in town are doing shows like "There Are No Atheists in Foxholes and Moses Crossing the Red Sea, this show is putting on a simple production of how Buster finds the true meaning of Christmas. Garrison shows his new Danish family (wife and step-son) a true American Christmas. He relates the story of Joseph, the Ultimate Step-Father.
